Modelling high-order filters in a transient microwave circuit simulator

چکیده
Transient simulation of narrowband bandpass filters used in microwave circuits is challenging because of matrix ill-conditioning. Here, such filters are modelled as the equivalent discrete-time form developed using a bilinear z-transform. The technique has been implemented in a general purpose transient circuit simulator and validated using a 1.7 GHz 5-section coaxial filter with a 0.9% bandwidth.

Transient Simulations of RF and High Data Rate circuits
This paper provides an overview of the challenges facing the simulation technology used in modern EDA tools that are employed in the research and design of RF, microwave and high data rate circuits. With the operating frequency of consumer products moving well into the microwave region, attention has to be paid to the way in which dispersive elements, data defined models and non-linear models a...
متن کاملEfficient Parameters Selection for CNTFET Modelling Using Artificial Neural Networks
In this article different types of artificial neural networks (ANN) were used for CNTFET (carbon nanotube transistors) simulation. CNTFET is one of the most likely alternatives to silicon transistors due to its excellent electronic properties. In determining the accurate output drain current of CNTFET, time lapsed and accuracy of different simulation methods were compared. The training data for...
متن کاملPerformance analysis of adaptive transversal filters for high-speed lightwave systems
Abstract: The analysis of transversal filters based on a novel cell design in common-source configuration (TF-CS) is presented. Based on this approach, a distributed transversal filter was designed as a monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) for optical-CDMA receiver systems [1]. In order to assess its performance, a transversal filter based on Gilbert cells (TF-GC) was designed using t...
متن کاملDe-Embedding Method Using EM Simulator for Characterization of FETs and Its Applicability to Lossy Substrates
Accurate characterization of field effect transistors (FETs) is necessary for accurate design of monolithic-microwave integrated-circuit (MMIC). Extraction of FET parameters is difficult because the FET is embedded in the parasitic circuit, which is referred to as test element group (TEG), as shown in Fig.1 to connect probe and biases. De-embedding method using open/shortTEG [1] had been widely...
متن کاملRF and Microwave Mixer Behavioural Modelling
Efficient models based on behavioural modelling techniques are needed for RF and microwave mixers in order to check the performances of communication systems. Here, we propose a model consisting on the cascade connection of an input equivalent filter, characterising the linear transmission and reflection memory effects, and an ideal nonlinear mixer model, providing the frequency translation and...
